Holly McCarty is a lifelong Huntsville resident, fourth-generation Huntsville City Schools graduate, community leader, and current District 2 Board of Education member. Born, raised, and educated in Huntsville, Holly believes education is the foundation of a strong community and that the success of Huntsville depends on the success of its students. She is committed to supporting students, empowering teachers, and preparing Huntsville City Schools for the future by working alongside families, educators, and community partners to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed.



Holly voted to strengthen HCS’s financial reserves while protecting investments in teacher pay and student programs.
Holly worked closely with the district through the consent order process; HCS now has only three of seven Green factors remaining
Holly supported the ten-year capital plan from the start, including over $130 million in investment for District 2 schools and families.
Deliver new school facilities on time and within budget while preparing HCS for future growth.
Continue building on recent success and secure the final point needed to earn “A” district status.
Ensure HCS is ready to meet the evolving needs of students and families as Huntsville continues to expand.
Holly McCarty is a lifelong Huntsville resident, fourth-generation Huntsville City Schools graduate, and proud mother of two HCS graduates. As the mom of a child with special education needs, Holly saw the vital role public education plays in providing ALL children a pathway to success. She has served on the Huntsville City Schools Board of Education since 2022 and is committed to ensuring every student has access to a high-quality education.
Holly first became involved in supporting schools, through her service in the PTA. For over fifteen years, Holly served in the PTA in her children’s schools. From being the room mom, supporting book fairs, fundraising and ultimately several terms as the PTA President in multiple schools, Holly is thankful for her time as a PTA parent.
A dedicated community leader and volunteer, Holly has served with organizations including the Huntsville Madison County Library Foundation, the National Children’s Advocacy Center, the Women’s Philanthropy Society, and the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville.
A graduate of Grissom High School, Auburn University, and Cumberland School of Law, Holly spent nine years as a prosecutor before returning her focus to serving the Huntsville community. She and her husband have lived in District 2 for nearly two decades.
